Star Wars is awesome. Cars are awesome. Combine the two and we get a list of cars suited for those in a galaxy far, far away...

Despite my irrational critiques, my progressively acquired automotive knowledge has enabled me to appreciate machines that I previously did not. Like many of you, my automotive tastes have evolved over time. Unfortunately, I was not always so open minded; here is a sampling of some of my backwards thinking over the years

This weekend I rousted a few of my motorcycle friends and we made our way on over to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum to check out the Extinct Car Day, an assemblage of old iron (and a bit of aluminum) from bygone automakers. Some were failed experiments, some were absorbed into one of the Big Three, others just slunk away, either lagging too far behind or reaching a bit too far.

We've all seen the spy shots and read the speculation. It's been in circulation for nigh on two years now, with the car slowly undressing itself of camouflage at six month intervals. But I think its safe to say that the release of a concept, along with near naked prototypes is conclusive evidence that BMW M's most iconic line of sports cars is about to receive its next iteration. However to refer to these cars as “M3's” would not be strictly accurate...

BMW, Mercedes and Audi are the German Big Three. They have dominated the premium car scene for decades and are all now creeping into other sectors, compounding their positions. But two contenders are emerging, both of which have flourished under their current owners but were dulled under Ford ownership and under-financed before that. Jaguar and Volvo were part of Ford's Premier Automotive Group, a disastrous affair that introduced boring design and Ford components into the formerly skint but well loved companies

Now that the new 2014 Mazda3 is here, I don't feel as bad for shitting all over the last model. Here's how it went with my experience. I will not be sticking to the standard format for Jaloppositelock reviews, but bear with me, as I will touch on all the features that are important, as well as the positives and negatives that I noticed during my four month period of loanership.

The Datsun F10 is considered by self-appointed experts as the ugliest car from the 1970s - and while it is more forgettably ugly than obtrusively ugly - the idea of picking it as the body for your heavy duty snow-plow built on a Dodge Powerwagon chassis is questionable.

Mr DASWAUTO - Can I make a suggestion? Forget trying to slowly catch up and produce BoO for each day until it is "up-to-date". Just skip to BoO for 11/5 tomorrow and if you miss a day in the future, don't worry about it, keep plugging away. I don't think anyone will be upset with you - but perhaps some other opponauts will 2nd or reject my suggestion.

As always - love the BoO posts and always feel honored to be mentioned.

I appreciate the support. I think I'm actually going to go the other way a little bit. The next couple of posts will cover more days each in a bid to catch up faster. I'd post them all in one day but that wouldn't have each edition posted to the front page and deserving Oppo posts would miss out on being seen. In that regard I'd like to be as fair to everyone as I can.

Kind and equitable (and classy) Mr. Wauto,
I come here not in self promotion on this occasion, but to recognize those who had humorous or worthwhile discussions based on my initial discussion prompt for the "Funny stuff family/friends say about cars" post. I think there is humor in some of the responses and it would be of interest to some. Oppos. I know I had a post under the same category for yesterday's Best of Oppo, but maybe you could use your powers to make something happen? I appreciate the work you do on these!
Here's the link to the page:

Thanks for your consideration (not based on my examples, but the discussions).

I don't even know if there is a private way to contact you, otherwise I would do this there. Thank you for standing up for all that is good on Oppo and Jalopnik. Defending not only our great writers but also our ways. Sadly, someone did delete his post but I feel like your rationale for not deleting it was sound. You are an honorable and wise person. So once again, thank you.

Heh, no problem. I try to be an example when necessary and to help people whenever possible. I appreciate the support.

If you do want to contact me, here usually works and also I have a Twitter you can hit up (I rarely tweet but if you or someone else wants to contact me, it's available).

What's this Twitter thing? I kid for the most part but there is always this kthooker at gmail dot com.

Couldn't resist following it. He went from mod to mod trying to get the answer he wanted. It was like playing your parents against each other for the desired result. Hopefully he will reform his ways but I don't see it happening.

Anyway, thanks again.
